Friendship to Relationship

If you decide to take friendship to the next level, it can be a tricky transition. Friendship can breed communication, which is important for any budding relationship, however, the expectations and worries are higher because of the fear of losing a friend. Here are a few tips from us to you on how to make the transition from friendship to relationship.

– – –

1- Confirm your Feelings

Before you embark on this relationship, make sure you are both on the same page. Don’t confuse friendly feelings with love just because the other person has romantic feelings for you, and don’t push friends into relationships if they don’t feel how you feel.

2 – Create the Romance

You have been spending so much time together that it can be hard to differentiate dating from regular hanging out. Make a point to do different and romantic ‘date’ things together to help make the transition to dating.

3 – Change the Language

If you are like me, you may tease your friends a lot, and may even have some funny inside jokes and nicknames. Remember that what you call each other is important, calling your friend ‘bro’ or ‘champ’ may send the wrong signals to the brain and spoil romantic feelings.

4 – Give Them Space

So now you are dating your friend, things are going well but pay attention. If you were already spending a lot of time together – you may now be upping the ante. Make sure you make time for yourself and other friends and give your partner the same space.
